Framed Vintage wooden sign "I Smoke in Moderation, Only One Cigar at a Time
"I Smoke In Moderation, Only One Cigar At A Time" is a humorous quote attributed to American author and humorist Mark Twain. The phrase is a lighthearted commentary on his well-known love of smoking
Mark Twain was a lifelong smoker who started as a child. He famously smoked continuously while working, sometimes up to 40 cigars a day, and considered it "the best of all inspirations for the pen". He tried to quit several times at the request of his wife, Olivia, but found it difficult. His attempts at moderation were often short-lived or resulted in him smoking increasingly larger cigars.
