Vintage menorah, a seven-branched candelabrum that is one of the oldest symbols of the Jewish faith
The word "menorah" is Hebrew for "lamp". The original menorah described in the Hebrew Bible was made for the Tabernacle and later used in the Holy Temple in Jerusalem. It is traditionally said to have been made of solid gold. The seven branches are thought to symbolize the seven days of creation, with the center branch representing the Sabbath
It is important to distinguish the seven-branched menorah from the nine-branched Hanukkah menorah, also known as a hanukkiah.
